
Leilei shared his thoughts on the importance of sketching and learning from nature, and Margaret Wall talked about how she chose the illustrations for her Slender Gold book.
We had an excellent AGM in Oxford! It was great to meet in person, and stroll round the Ashmolean – its current display of Chinese prints and paintings includes 2 collages by our Honorary President Qu Leilei, beautiful examples of the technique that Leilei explained in his Sunday workshop.

Louisa Yuen (Oriental Arts) brought an enticing range of items, including paper with gold and silver designs, brushes, books and scholar objects.

Jing Li organised a special display of contemporary hanging scrolls from China, with a range of subjects and styles, and an opportunity to buy a unique painting. A scroll by Chinese artist Mrs Zhen was raffled for two charities to prevent young suicide: Papyrus and CALM.

Saturday afternoon brought an illustrated talk by He Weimin on his Woodblock Printing Journey, illustrated with his stunning early monochrome prints, including Belfast and Oxford. Photos of Weimin, and his more recent work in dramatic colour.
